Today I’m going to talk about which 3d program would be best
to use as a beginner. There are quite a
few out there but, for the beginner why spend hundreds of dollars when you
could start out with one that is free and just as good as the rest if not
better. I would recommend if you have NEVER touched a 3d modeling program to
first try Blender. You can get this
program at www.blender.org and download it
for free. Once it’s downloaded simply
install and Blender will put a nifty icon on your desktop so that you can
easily find it the next time you want to use it.
When you open your Blender it’s going to be quite
overwhelming at first but, don’t freak out!
I’m going to give you a few links that will show you all the basics,
from the interface to creating simple mesh shapes such as a box, cylinder, and
plane. The Blender website has a ton of
tutorials that once you have mastered the basics you can move on to the more
advanced beginner courses and start to create items you never dreamed you
could.
Blender
is an all-around great program; whether you want to use it for modeling 3d
items, creating fun animations, rigging 3d characters, or even creating awesome
particle displays such as explosions, water flowing and even windblown
hair. It can be done with Blender. Blender is also compatible with many game
engines such as Unity 3d and Open-Sim games like Second Life, Avination,
Inworldz and many more. So you know that
using Blender you will be able to easily bring your creations into those games
and be ready to start using them immediately.
There are also many other plug-ins out there that can be used with
Blender to help you get projects done even quicker such as Avastar. Which is a ready-made rigged-avatar built for
games like Second Life. With the Avastar
plug-in you can bring in custom avatars, build the items or animations that you
would like with Blender and export easily, without going through the exhausting
pain of rigging the avatar yourself.
Blender is an amazing program with unlimited options for creating 3d
content for online gaming, movies, animations, still photos and much more. I think that you will be surprised how easy
it is once you get your hands on it! So
below you will find some handy links to help you get started with Blender!
